I'm kind of tired of hearing this argument.

It would not be "cleaner" by any means.

Don't plants need CO2 to survive? If we eliminate it, won't that kill every living thing on this planet? Think about THAT fact.

Reducing the amount of CO2 in the air can slow smog production and accumulation, but it will not magically reverse the process. The air will still be plenty dirty. The only way smog dissipates is by gradually disintegrating over time.

Yes and No, Sir Richard Branson and Al Gore began the Virgin Earth Challenge which would reward 25 million dollars to the best invention on how to clean the air of CO2 and other greenhouse gases, however I don't really know how informed the participants are and the chances of them making a breakthrough...

Not /just/ reducing CO2, no. But most of the sources being targetted for reduction also produce actual polutants, which do contribute to smog and the like. So if you increase automobile fuel efficiency accross the board, for instance, you reduce CO2 emissions, /and/ smog.
