i'm having a very big problem that i don't know how to deal with. i have been subleasing an area that i perform automotive repair in the back area outside of a repair shop. my landlord told me that i had to leave by the 20th of this month. he told me this on the 5th. i haven't left because i believe he has to have cause. he stated that it's because i didn't pay rent but i'am up to date with the exception of this month. i have the money but i didn't pay as i didn't know where this situation stands. what do i do? can he evict me for no reason? is there a certain amount of time he needs to give me? any info or help is appreciated.

If you are current on rent , then notice should be 30 days and in writing ,
If you are behind in rent or there are safety violations, the time might be different .
When someone else owns the property , you are always there at their whim , which can change in a minute .
It will take him time to get the court papers to force you out (maybe another 2 weeks depending on your jurisdiction). Check with your local authorities on the matter , rules vary from place to place .
