Because it's the truth.
Just ask the AMA or APA as well. (American Medical Assn, Psychological)
So, we prefer to believe science/truth, and our own experience, vs. bigotry and hate. Which do you believe?

Because the preponderance of evidence points in that direction. We have no "proof" that the center or the Earth is really hot, but that doesn't mean it's not highly likely.
Gays and lesbians have turned up in every corner of the world well since well before the Internet and TV, even in small towns where kids growing up had no idea what a gay person was and in highly oppressive cultures where it still represents a death sentence.
In order for it to be a learned or mimicked behavior, there would have to be a role model, or at least the knowledge that other gay people exist while growing up. And, if it were learned, it could be changed; even the ex-gay movement no longer claims it can change people- only train them to suppress and resist their natural attractions.

Why does it really matter? If they were "born" gay or if it was just a natural progression...I really don't think that it's really yours..mine..or anyone else's business as to how they began that lifestyle...i think that all too often we as a society feel entitled to "know" why things happen or are the way they are. The truth is that not everything needs a huge, lengthy explanation. It is what it is. You can't catch it...it's not a disease...but it IS something that makes a large amount of people happy....so i say leave it be...quite trying to analyze it and stop making people into rare species to be watched with a microscope...but..that's just my thought. :)

Because there's too many other variables.
The only thing all gay people on the planet share is being born.
Think about it, millions upon millions of people, in thousands of different cultures, speaking different languages, having different customs and taboos, totally divergent upbringings.
Plus we know it's not a choice, if one has a choice, then they are bisexual. We do not. We didn't pick it, it picked us.
Plus it's not a disease, because you can't catch gay.
So we're left with birth. The mechanism is unknown, but we know we're born this way.

I do thank that I was born gay. I think it's something to be very thankful about. Were you born a bad speller? How would u like people to think u chose to be a bad speller which would make u look really dumb when u were just born that way

I don't remember making a conscience choice. Does anybody, gay or straight?
Here's an interesting book on the subject: "The Homosexual Matrix". It explores nature and nurture explanations.

Because there is sientific research to back that belief up. I'm straigt but I'm darned if I can figure out why so many people are terrified of homosexuality. There is nothing more miraculous than seeing two people who have discovered each other as life partners. Whenever we see that, regardless of the genders involved they deserve our heartfelt congratulations not our hatred. The think that really gets me is most of those who only offer the hatred label themselves as Christians.

Hi there,
Because I was born gay. I can not help the fact that a naked man gets me going and even the thought of a naked female squiggs me out! I can admire a beautiful woman but for me, please keep the clothes on! No offense to the many beautiful women, lesbian, straight, bi, trans out there but I like me men.
Cheers.

As I don't believe in God, I have no idea whom I should thank for being born gay ... but THANKS! It really has been a lot of fun so far, and it can only get better!
