How old should my daughter be before I make her go see a gynecologist?
She is 15 years old. She is a virgin. I am kinda thinking I should take her now. What do you think? They say the recomended age to first take your daughter is 13-15, but 13 seems too soon. (that is what medical websites have said)
I also have a 13 year old daughter. I am wondering if I should take her too. I think it seems too early for the 13 year old.

What do y'all think?

You should take them both.

Once you start your period, it means your body is developing and hormones are raging.

Going to a gyno doesn't mean BC, it means being checked out and making sure everything is eworking properly & checking for any abnormalities.

The sooner something is found, the faster you can take care of it.

Now...teenagers have sex young. Even if yours has not. Going to the ob/gyn will not make her have sex.

She needs to educate herself....long term it will be the best thing for her. Just respect her privacy and let her be alone with the doctor to ask her questions. She will be embarassed so let her ask questions when she is done.

Consider that this is a way for the two of you to get closer. Life is short and sex is a part of that life. Don't shelter her...it could be a mistake.

Talk to your gyn. next time you're there. Or take the oldest with you so that she can see that its not so scary. Have her stand/sit next to your head so that she gets the same view that you do. I think girls should go once they has sex, or you think they have. Let them be little girls as long as they can be. Also I don't like the idea of your reg. doctor doing pelvic exams. Leave that to the experts, especially for a little girls first exam. These doctors do this day in and day out and would know how to talk a girl through her first exam.

I would take the 15 year old
I don't know that I would the 13 year so long as she gets yearly checkups.

Perhaps, You should show her to one. Nowerdays girls are getting their periods so early, even as early as 9! Anyways I was showed to one when I was 16. Maybe its time, because if you really think about me being 15 years old is like being 13 years old today, because of girls getting periods early. Celebrate, because now your daughter has finally reached womanhood.

I would discuss the issue with her general physician to determine the best time. She is also getting to the age where there will be social pressure to have sex and she may hide that from you. She may be more comfortable discussing that with her doctor with you not in the room.

Once they start their periods they will need to go. But it may not be a bad idea so they become more comfortable with what will go on during an exam, and they can ask questions.

I would recommend taking her now. Better for you to be there with her so she feels comfortable. Since your other is 13, it wouldn't hurt anything for her to go as well. I am struggling with this as well, my lil girl will be of age to go soon, but it seems like once they do they aren't little girls any more but little women. Its scary, but its better for them to learn about taking care of themselves down there early. Things like yearly exams will seem more natural if they start young. Plus, its the perfect time for them to be vaccinated to prevent cervical cancer. Going to a GYN has nothing to do with them having or not having sex, as I am sure you know. Its about their health. Good luck!

I would take the 15 year old.

If the 13 year old is interested in boys and you allow her to date then take her also. If you do not allow her to date yet, wait until she is 14.

You daughter never has to see a GYN doc. Your regular doc can handle routine GYN things. She does not need a pap or pelvic exam until she is 18 or sexually active which ever comes first and even then the regular doc can do this. Female and a nurse for over 33 years.
