Before June and July were added, we had 10 months, and the 10th month was December... similarly, October was the 8th month and Oct = 8. ;-)

If it is a 2-dimensional shape (like a circle or a triangle) it is a decagon. If it is a 3-D shape (like a sphere or a pyramid) it is a decahedron.

It's a decagon. The 'dec' bit is from Latin for 10. If, for example it had eight sides it would be a heptagon, 9 would ne nonagon, and so on.
