I'm from France and it's very illegal to smoke it heaven if there's a lot of person who smoke...
If Sarko is the president all the smoker will go in prison...

It's not exactly legal. They've decriminalized small amounts. So if you do get caught you will wrote up, you will get a hefty fine, but you wont' get jail time or a criminal record (unless you are trafficking, then you are screwed).
But honestly, and maybe it's just in the Western provinces I don't know), but cops don't take weed very seriously. I know from personal experience, most of the time they just confiscate it, and take you home.

medically I think it is. In general if you do it in certain areas it is not a big concern to police. there are places espcially in Vancouver that are know for smoking weed and the police do not really care about it.

You need to have a prescription and obtain it from a government sanctioned source, if not marijuana is completely illegal.

The cops won't really bust you if you have a small amount and your an addict (that would just fill up jails), but they can if they want.
