That's pretty funny. Now that THEIR government is in power, "government is god, and we should bow before it." People wearing T-shirts with progressive messages aren't allowed at (supposedly public) appearances by Bush.
But when the government was in progressive hands, the conservatives ranted about "evil big government."
They only like government if THEY are the government. If not, then they'll fight against it.

Now now, I think righties and lefties in America will both agree that debate is good.
I'm not a conservative by any stretch of the imagination, but it's not fair to say they don't tolerate debate.
I mean there are some cons that think everyone should think their way, just as there are some libs who think that too. It's about honest, hopen debate between the tolerant and educated from both sides. This is what educated the public so they can make sound voting decisions based on their own political beliefs, and what has been brought forth.
I think all we see nowadays is name calling and ridicule. It's pretty ridiculous I think

Conservatives do not think government is God. We believe government is the people and that people get that right to govern from God.
We love debate. It's just that I would like to hear something from the other side besides Bush is a chimp.

It would be great if we could all have an open and intelligent debate but it seems some people are determined to call names and rant and rave rather than have a discussion. If you had stopped with your first question it would have been intelligent but you had to go ahead and throw in your snipe at republicans which defeats your purpose of debating. It would be nice to discuss ideas instead of blaming one party or the other. Good common sense should come before party influence!

Two quotes that are appropriate here that seem to describe the Cons. and their beliefs from a couple of their idols:
Hermann Goering, second in command of the Third Reich and key founder of the Nazi party, said; “Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism, and exposing the country to greater danger”.
"If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it. The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic, and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the state to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the State."
__Josef Goebbels, Nazi Minister of Propaganda

According to VP Dick Cheney, you are unpatriotic and anti-American to ask this question. You will be reported to Homeland Security and sent to a secret prison in the White House Basement to be water-boarded into submission.
