be careful with that. I think you can only do it if a crime is taking place, and then you just detain them until the police show up. You may end up facing charges yourself, such as kidnapping, if you go about it wrongly.

If you know someone is wanted, call the authorities.

You've been watching too much tv. Vigilantism is against the law in the United States. You CAN'T make a citizens arrest, and shouldn't. The reasons are numerous. The fact that it is dangerous and stupid is the obvious one, but there is also the chance that you, not being a professional, will botch it and the criminal will either escape, or get off because you violated his rights. That is the simple explanation. We have law enforcement for a reason. If you suspect someone of committing a crime, call them. That is what they are there for. Other than that, about the only thing you can do is defend yourself or someone else from an attack, but that is a totally different thing than "making a citizens arrest."

You can't make a citizens arrest in the USA. Because the criminal will likely kill you because you are being nosy.....unless the criminal is trying to kill or rape someone or something like that, then you need to call the police.
