There are so many effects. But one of them that I consider a benefit is the emission of powder in the atmosphere that can filter the sun rays and, doing so, have the result to diminish the temperature.

In the 17th century, the eruption of a Vulcan in Philippines caused a cloud of powder that make the Europe have a winter of two straight years. It would be nice if it occur in the days we are living, in order to minimize global warming.

It actually depends on the size and location of the actual eruption. A very large eruption (Yellowstone) could put so much dust, ash, and other stuff in the air, reflecting so much of the sun's energy, it could put the world into an ice age.

Ash can destroy engines, clog rivers, and because it is so hot, if breathed too much, it can literally become cement-like in your lungs. the ash can cause future problems when rain loosens the deposited ash and causes "lahars", flows of wet mud-material that can move and wipe out everything in its path. (Nevado del Ruiz). A good place to go to get more info is the USGS site at www.usgs.gov and click on volcanic hazards.

well, for one, climate change, a large erruption can emmit dust and volcanic ash and some other factors that can block sunlight, and cool the temperature, which is funny because volcanoes are hot... volcanic erruptions can create new land, like hawaii. those are some things just off the top of my head, what grade are you in? im in 7th and we did this stuff last year..
