Samantha,
The quick answer is below:
12/100 * 2000 = 240ml
This can be simplified to:
12/1 * 20 = 240ml
or even more simplified:
12 * 20 = 240ml
It sounds like you are learning about percentages!
Have fun

Ok, you want millilitres--so, 2 litres is 2,000 millilitres, right?
Now you want 12/100 of 2,000--which is the same as 12 times 20, if you cancel out the hundreths. So, now you have to multiply 12 times 20, and you have it, in millilitres.

12/100 x 2000/1 2000 ml =2 liters
100 becomes 1 and 2000 becomes 20
12 x 20==240milliliters is 12/100 of 2 liters
