Is Motoko Kusanagi from ghost in the shell a lesbian?

I was watching an episode from Ghost in the Shell [stand alone complex] the third volume on dvd. On the second disk they show the major in a room with like two girls, i think they're her room mates. I just wanted to know because she is a really cool character and it would be cool to be like her, except me being lesbian.

I haven't seen the episode you are referring to, but I know in the original comics Shirow Masamune definately makes it obvious that she's a lesbian (or at least bi). Then again, does having "cyber-sex" (or virtual reality sex) really count?

Plus, she's a cyborg (synthetic body, or shell, with a human/cybernetically-enhanced brain) - could you really question a cyborg's sexual orientation? ... and with all of the fire power and martial-arts skills Kusanagi has, would you ever have the guts to even question her? I don't think I would. :p

She is bisexual. She has cybernetic sex with another woman in the original comics; though in Stand Alone Complex 2 GIG episode 11, with a woman who guards physical memories of others, she discusses "the first boy she ever loved," with whom she survived a terrible plane accident at the age of six.
