i just got a new laptop its amd triton 64 and its a compaq it has 958 mb of ram and i want to upgrade it to 2 gigs. is it posible? and if it is how much would it cost?

should be able to - and on average it would cost you about $185.00 or so

You will have to get some technical help on this. I could not upgrade the RAM on my Pentium III because of the motherboard. Your laptop may or may not be able to handle 2G.

1G seems sufficient for most users. Maybe you are just overloading the RAM you have unnecessarily -- wallpaper, screensaver, too many programs in startup, etc.

It's definitely possible but it's not as easy as just buying it and replacing it. Their are different speeds. Check which kind of memory you've got then buy another gig of the same kind. As to price the cheapest I've found is at...

Kingston has a nice tool for selecting the type of memory that fits on your laptop. It even tells you the maximum amount of memory you can have in your laptop. Unfortunately, since you did not give the model of your laptop, I can give you a complete answer.

Go to http://www.kingston.com/default.asp and use the "memory search" tool.

it gives you back the max amount of memory for you PC, options etc.. oh. an the price..

you have different processors in these two laptops as you pointed out. the higher frequncy laptop would perform tasks faster than the slower frequency processor. though at the values you provided it does not seem to be noticable.
