There are a lot of Americans who are fond of saying, "God bless America." Of course, that comes from the title of a song. However, with the way so many Americans are fond of saying it, one would think that they actually believe that the US is the only country that has been blessed by God.

If you believe in an all loving God.. then you would have to assume he loves and blesses all of his children.. even the biggest sinners.

I don't think they mean anything by it. I pretty sure we are all aware that the rest of the world is capable of being blessed by GOD, but they are asking for God to bless America!! I could see the point of your question if people were to say God bless only America!

Great question. It shows that you are thinking and using your reason. I admire people who think on their own instead of believing what everyone says.

If there is a God, and we are children of God, and God loves all his children, God will bless all of humanity, and the birds and the bees too. Otherwise, God will be considered playing favorites, and would be unfair and unjust.

So, if God is good and is fair and just, God will not play favorite and bless only Americans. God will bless all humanity and all living things and everything that God had created.

Well if you consider that the song is about patriotic love of the US, and isn't casting any aspersions about any other country, why does it rankle you so much that people would wish that God bless America?

There is no disrepect there for other countries, just an expression of love for this country.

Your argument seems very petty.

No, he doesnt. The statement is used universally by other countries, in Europe, Africa and the Americas (Asia may be the only exception due to fewer Abrahamic religions) to mean "help my country". When the US uses the statement, it's to mean bless them to be a better country. That's my interpretation.

God blesses all that which is good and moral. Isn't it amazing how all liberal ideas, values, and thoughts are rooted in an initial lie. The flaw in logic here is. - Since Americans see America as blessed, they must hate all other countries. It's interesting how even in the above statement, we can see the fostering of hatred and jealousy common in so many liberal posts here.

Ahhh. . . did 'I'm proud to be an American' have an effect on ya .

God Blesses all , but it only stands to reason that He would Bless a country that has promoted His Commandments . . . . at least when we used to do that !!
