Next week I am going over the road with a well-noted trucking company. I am going to need a cellular plan that will allow me to keep in contact with my friends and family. Any suggestions?

Verizon. I've never been on an interstate and not had service. In fact, I can only recall one place (fifteen minute stint in the sticks) that didn't get me coverage in the many years that I've had them. Also, the customer service has been great. I've had service with everyone else except for Sprint Nextel. I should know. Good luck and drive safely.

Assuming your staying entirely in the US, either Verizon Wireless or Cingular. You want a plan with no-long distance charges, no roaming. If the people your calling have the same provider you can call them all you want for no additional charge.

My father is a truck driver and he says he's strictly prohibited from using a cell phone while on the road in his truck. Cingular has great coverage, but please don't use your phone while driving. Us drivers thank you!
