Where the owner manual say. Sometimes there a picture where the jack is stored, look on the cover of the jack. Most you can look behind the front tire and in front of the rear tire and see a little indention on the frame where the jack go.
Loosen the lug nuts before the tire off the ground and then after it up remove completely. Be sure the emergency brake is on you you put something Behind/Front of a tire so your car not roll.

I would say that under the Axel would be the best place and make sure that the jack is on level ground and not sinking into sand or mud...if that is the case put a plank under the jack before lifting the vehicle.
Also if you are taking the tire off...loosen the lugs first before the tire is off of the ground, otherwise you will be moving the tire around with the wrench when you try to take them off.

I have never worked on mini's, but I just bet it's about a foot or so under the car, there is a frame of the car, thats where to put it, if it's a rear tire. put it in front of tire, if it's a front tire, put it behind tire.

put the jack under the frame if possible thats the most safest place to put one. if not put it under the rear end.
