Go to the store and buy some gas drops. They work wonders! They will be your best friend for the next couple of months. You can also place him on his tummy when you try and burp him. The pressure can help get the gas out. Also, try "bicycling" his legs--move them up and down like he was riding a bike. This could help stimulate the digest system and get some stuff out. Sometimes, when you are changing a diaper, the legs go towards his head, and the gas can be released, too.

With the gas drops, Mylicon is the most famous, but there are others. I can't remember the name of it, but there is one that is flavored and my daughter just loved it. Good luck!

Talk to your peditrician, it could be something serious and it might not be. But I really think you should bring it up to him. I used with my son the gas drops and they helped some. Also your little one might be having trouble with the formula and he may need to change it for a soy formula or a different kind. Carnation brand says it is easier on tummy's ( I always wished I had tried it). He could be lactose intolerate and needs to try different formulas. If you breast feed he could be reacting to your diet and you might need to change your diet. I could be allergies? Passing gas for a little is usually a little painful, so while I wouldn't panic I would talk to your doctor about it and try some options such as the drops for babies, changing formulas etc....

Well, if he's on formula you might have to talk to his pediatrician about changing his formula. My first son had the same problem once I put him on formula and come to find out he was lactose intolerant and we had to put him on a soy based formula and it made a huge difference. He ended up growing out of the problem and he's 9 and drinks regular milk. It just might be to hard for your son's stomach right now. For the gas you can also try Infants Mylicon drops, if you haven't already and can find them they're a little expensive, but so worth it. I already bought some for my daughter who hasn't arrived yet, just in case she needs them. It can't hurt to be prepared!! Good Luck!! :-)

Keeping him upright for longer after he eats will help him digest better! Also, you can give him a bit of gripe water ... this will help settle his stomach. As well as, lay him down on his back and push his leg up towards his tummy ... this will help him release his gas! Holding him with one arm facing away from you (leaning up against your body and putting your arm across his tummy and inbetween his legs) will always help comfort him! Good luck :)

I'm using Telement colic drops, i put 15 drops in every bottle and it really helps him with his winds. My son is 4 weeks old on Friday and he has no problems passing winds.

You said he was new... Are you still nursing him? I suggest you try because it sounds like his system is picky.
Also, if you are nursing i would change your diet. Go as bland as possible and slowly try re-introducing things into your food, like fats, certain veggies, spices, butter, milk....
He may be reacting to something you are eating.
If he is on formula, I would change to a different kind. And give him mylicon.
Soy formula is best, try to find an organic brand.
Good luck!
