I go to the University of Wisconsin- La Crosse and we have 8,100 students. The University of Wisconsin- Green Bay has only 5, 800 and they are a division one school for numerous sports, most notably basketball. Why are they division one when we are only division three?

It has to do with the resources that the college is willing to put into sports. There are rules about how many sports, how many scholarships you can have and about recruiting that must be followed. For many schools, the payoff is not worth the effort.
