It's in the Jacksonville, NC area. I've seen it and I'm not too thrilled especially moving from the Atlanta area, but if the compensation is right to uproot the family then I have no problem with it.

Is the move a "lateral job" move? If so, cost of moving would be reasonable. Raleigh area was voted one of the top ten areas to move and live in for cost of living and income a few months ago. How bad do they want you to move? Is your job more secure there than where you are now? How expensive is the disenfranchisement of your current living arrangements? Will a promotion (with pay raises and/or benefits) be more readily available there? How will your employer view a "turn down" of their offer? Will it limit any further offers?

These are some of the questions would want to know the answers to if I were you.

You should at least ask for more money to cover your moving expenses. Either way, I would ask for more money! Where in NC? I just had to move from the Charlotte area which I absolutely love. Very clean and a lot of young business men and women. Good luck to you!!!

It depends did you agree to transfering when accepting your job. Even then they should pay to move you and you should get a raise so as to send your children to a better school etc... Lets say the school your kids go to know is way better then the school they would be forced to attend in NC. You should definitely get a raise.

Always. You need to cover your expenses. Plus why would you want to change unless there is some benefit? Unless it’s a better job and you are trying to leave your old one. But if you are happy with your current job, make them reward you for leaving.
