On ortho tricyclen lo, period comes a day or 2 early last 2 months, does that mean the pills not working properly? Does that mean I am actually ovulating? I don't have insurance so it would be really expensive for me to go to the Dr. to ask them. Has anyone had this happen before?

It is very common to have break through and early bleeding when starting a new pill. The pill is still effective, it just your body transitioning. Give it another month. If you are still bleeding 2 days early call you MD. There are a lot of MD's that won't charge for the call and new Rx as they know it's a tough situation (w/o insurance).

You will need to explain "a day or two early" in order for anyone to determine if this is a problem or not. If your period is coming when you are still on the active pills in your pack, it could indicate some type of problem and that the pills are not working effectively. However, if it's earlier than you usually get your period, but you are still on inactive pills, then the medication is more than likely working as it should.

I am on that also. And mine comes about 3 days or so earlier than normal. Don't worry, I've been having this same problem as well. When I go to my Dr. again, I'll ask her about it and maybe she can up the dosage a bit. I'm taking a really LOW dosage(about 10-20mg) so maybe she needs to up the dosage a bit or something? And my insurance is crappy too, but it DOES pay for almost all of my perscription. :)

I too am on this pill. My period tends to start right before I start the placebo pills (last 7 pills in the pack). Maybe this is typical for this type of pill?

No it is normal, but it might means that they are not suitable for you, so you can try some other pills
