system: winXP
problem: transferred 1.5GB of files from my e: drive (partioned drive) to external storage drive. However, system still detects the same free disk space as before.
attempts: disk cleanup, virus scan, defrag (but fail coz % space too low)

doing chkdsk in DOS still gives the same result i.e. did not free up 1.5GB

Empty the recycle bin

#1 Empty the Recycle Bin
#2 Click Start>Run and type "CMD" and hit enter
#3 At the Command Prompt, type "e:" and hit enter
#4 Type "chkdsk /f" and hit Enter
#5 Type Exit
#6 Restart your PC

basically reason you cant see whats happening around you, doesnt advise your techniques wont. your mind's eye will paint photographs of whats happening while you maintain your eyes close. so from what your eyes observed, issues will stay unchanged, yet good success shuting off your mind's eye.
