I love the way we just throw the word banned around, what kind of society do you want to live in? can't you control what your kids watch yourself? Why do certain people always look to or want the government to decide things for you. If you don't want your kids to watch TV because you as an adult can't control what they watch, then pull the plug on your TV and throw it away. But don't think you should or do have the right to unplug my TV. I restrict what and when and how long my kids can do anything, I don't need you or the government banning or instructing me or my kids on anything thank you, this is the big down fall of America, all these self righteous people, they guy who is so against gays and then guess what? comes out hes gay! or the guy who wants all porn banned, and then you find out it's because he can't stop watching it, or the guy who reads a book and does not like it, so he does not put the book down and never reads it again, he wants it banned so no one can read it! Please Just be responsible for yourself make sure your doing the moral thing and stop banning and taking away the rights other people enjoy!

It shouldn't be banned at all. It is educational, it teaches my child songs and lets him see things from around the world like all the different animals. He loves watching other babies too. If a parent sits with the child as they watch television together, a child will notice more if the parent is there to point out things they are seeing and ask the child questions of what they can see. A child likes to watch and listen to different tones and accents of people and will learn many things quicker than if a parent sits and teaches them limited things that only the parent can think of at the time. Obviously the time that the tv is on should be limited, but I know that a tv is educational and a child will learn more and what they learn is unlimited and varied everyday.

No... I believe in good children's programming...

I actually think that adults should be banned from watching television... Either that, or God forbid, they grow intellects and come to the realization on their own, that life, is dictated and preferences formed via television commercials?

Why hasn't anyone figured that out yet?

I personally prefer watching Nick Jr and Toon and Boomerang to most of the crap on television now days...

At least Ive no desire to run out and try Cymbalta or Abilify or Go to Target or get Botox injections because my new car (that parallel parks itself) makes me look old... and I am depressed as a result of all my credit cards being maxed out because of that HUGE sale at Macy's... I don't have any of those problems...

because I either watch BBC, PBS or Nick Jr, the travel channel or other educational programs... I hate regular television. It's all mindless 15 minute distractions between them selling you anything and everything you only think you need and don't.

Children are not that stupid...

I don't want English things... There are no commercials on PBS (all I ever want from watching that is Roadshow tix) and I have no need for any of the things they advertise on Nick Jr so...

Children are fine as long as they are not watching Bratz and wanting to become little whores as a result...

Nothing wrong with being antisocial if you ask me... I am antisocial by choice... not from watching television, because most people live their lives like a character on a sitcom, or an MTV musician, or an ad for the flavor of the week anyway... Who wants to be around that? Not me!

I'll pass on the water cooler discussions about this weeks episode of Friends, Lost, or Survivor... anyday! Gross!

No not banned but limited. My niece is allowed to watch one program per day, usually dora the explorer or fifi or something wierd like that. She is very bright and loves painting and playing with dollies and stuff like that. Unfortunately there is no way of regulating a ban on tv and the goverment should educate parents on how much tv, what type of tv etc is suitable. Each parent should be allowed to make a choice on how they bring up their child rather than us being dictated how to bring up a child. I remember watching cartoon when I was small and it did me no harm.

I think it should be limited a lot more than it is, but not banned! There are a lot of very good TV programmes on aimed specifically at the under-3s and helping them to developing their language, number and reasoning skills and I noticed how my daughter benefited from this. Equally though, I noticed how it could adversely affect her behaviour if she watched too much TV - it's just a case of getting the balance right. I suppose you could say the same for adults too!

No they shouldn't be banned, but the parents should limit the amount of television. PBS is the best thing that a child can use. I agree that the television is not a baby sitter but it is a learning tool.

I see no longer something incorrect. Madonna is an artist. She will no longer end expressing herself because of the fact she is a mom. Nor would desire to she. All infants are embarrassed by their mothers and dads. It makes no difference no count while you're well-known or nameless. Posing for those photographs would not make her a foul mom. She is basically responsible for her very own infants. there is no way she will shelter each and every new child interior the worldwide. that may no longer her interest. i think of this is a robust subject that youngsters do no longer watch too lots television or examine a great form of gossip. they are teenagers. while they are older, they could make their very own judgements. starting to be up, i could have lots somewhat been dancing or exterior enjoying. Madonna makes use of the mediums available to her to precise what she has to assert to the worldwide. this is her paintings. those photographs are paintings, as nicely. i do no longer see the difficulty, in any respect.

There are many things on television that a parent cannot explain or demonstrate as well they can. Telvision is an excellent tool. It is, however, the duty of a parent to supervise the children and assure that what they watch is instructional and not entertainment.

Then who would watch Sesame Street, Barney and the rest of them??? Those shows are specially designed for children (including children under the age of 3). Parents do need to raise their children, but it's not impossible for there to be a healthy balance.

No way, i definitly think young children should watch television within reason, obviously they shouldnt watch it all day but fo an hour a day in small sections can very much improve their learning.
We have just dont a prject in childhood learning in our health studies and children who are auditory learners (children who learn by listening) gain alot from watching small amoount of television a day.
