I've heard that if you lose your mucus (spelling? lol) plug that you can't have sex after that because it keeps the germs out. I'm dialated one cm and I dont think I have lost it, but I don't know. It could've came out while I was using the bathroom and didn't know. So... I'm not sure what to do. And also, do you have to have an orgasm to put you into labor or does sex just work?

sperm can soften the cervix, which makes it open easier and sooner, orgasm can cause contractions in your uterus, which can lead to contractions to be regular and start labor. If you lost your mucas plug you would probably notice it, it is bloody and icky, you would probably notice the blood in your stool. But maybe not. I had sex when I was dialated that much, I was dilated 2 and 3 cenimeters for about 3 weeks. I know my doctor told me to have sex to try to start labor, so I think it is okay...but with that one, just give your doctors office a call and ask the advice nurse. She can tell you. Good luck, oh and try walking stairs. I know it is the last thing you want to do right now, lol.

Not sure about the mucus plug, but you might want to ask your OB. As for the "natural induction", as I understand, it's not your orgasm - it's your male assistant's: the seminal fluid contains a hormone that triggers contractions. The one time we used this method, it worked like a shot, so have the engine running and the suitcase in the car...

Well, the orgasm contracts your uterus, which can cause more contractions. The sperm also helps soften the cervix. Trust me, you'll know when you loose your plug. Good Luck!

It is okay to have sex unless your doctor advises you not too. My hubby and I did it all the way until D-day. In fact, we did it just to start labor and sure enough it always worked. Nipple stimulation also helps to start labor, in case you didn't know that.

if you're dilated it's not a good idea to have sex anyway. Walking is great to help out after you've started dilating, but do not have sex. Dilation means you're opening up and whether you've lost the plug or not there's still risk of bacteria or infection getting in there.

Don't have any more sex until the baby comes. You are dialated! That means that your baby is exposed to infection. Sex can cause infection. Also, don't take baths, showers only!
