I'm not sure that's true with Dubya in the Oval Office. He seems to have made up his mind that he's dictator of the world while he's in office. It will be such a let down for him when he's compelled to leave Washington by January of 2009. When that time arrives, I expect he will probably have to be forcibly dragged from his office while clinging to his desk and repeatedly shouting: "But, but, but...I'm the Decider. I leave when I say so." What a nutcase!
I do think it would help if citizens who support the efforts Congress is making to try and stop the madness in Iraq would write the leaders of that body and ask them to stick by their guns. They ostensibly represent the will of the people and the real "deciders" in government. Contrary to what Dubya thinks, he does not own the country, and if the people decide a change of course is needed and apply enough pressure to affect it, it will be changed. He will either obey the people's will or face censure by Congress and have his voice rendered even less audible and effective than it already has become.
As far as Gonzales is concerned, I think the same thing applies. I plan on writing some of the members of the Senate Judiciary Committee to commend them on their good work. We don't want a man who is supposed to be running a major governmental department not being fully with it concerning major events unfolding within his own purview. What's even more astounding is that he doesn't even really seem to care very much. An apology and a "mea culpa" just doesn't suffice. His lack of care and concern for what's going on in his own department indicates a certain lackadaisical mindset. We certainly don't want that sort of mindset in the country's Attorney General. So, in my opinion, Gonzales should be ousted..

I don't know where you guys got the impression that America has suddenly turned liberal. That is nowhere near the case. Let us take a walk down reality lane for a while shall we? In the last election, the democrats won. But let us take a look at how they won. In the Senate, they only won control by one seat. That seat was Joe Lieberman and he was elected after the liberals turned their back on him. I'd say that that shows a rejection of the liberals in Connecticut, don't you think?
In the lower house, the majority is also small. Again we should consider that some of the republicans who lost were moderate to liberal leaning. They lost because the republicans did not vote for them. Many of the newly elected democrats ran as conservative. Don't forget that.
Most importantly, America by nearly a four to one margin do not want to loose this war. Now, you and your friends may think everyone agrees with you but believe an old timer like me, if the majority of Americans really wanted the troops pulled out, there would be no hesitation on the democrats part to cut the funding. Instead we see them needing to bribe their own members to even accept a date for withdrawal.
Believe me, the democrats are watching the polls and focus groups very carefully. The numbers are just not there.
If the democrats like Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid and Jack Murtha keep making the mistakes they are making, you will loose big time come 2008. Your constant investigations and unfounded charges are already beginning to wear on the nerves of the American public. You see, you are making a serious miscalculation. When the democrats went after Nixon, Nixon was not liked by most Americans. They are trying the same template with George W. Bush but they should not. Even though people are not please with his job performance, they still like him. Heck they elected him twice.
He is a likable guy and most people think he is doing the right things just not in the right or most effective ways. He has, if anything, not been conservative enough. Now do you really think that people who do not think he was conservative enough will vote for a democrat? I think not.

George W Bush is a hero who is defending America form the new fascist, the radical Islamists. If we weren't fighting them there we would be fighting them here.Liberals want everything to be easy, they have a tendency to snuggle up to our enemies like they did with the USSR and now Pelosi who even wore a burka.
Liberals are the enemy within, they want America to loose

It might require forcibly removing a few of these pieces of crap from their offices.
But yes - when the American people speak, their leaders must listen. And they spoke last fall.
