I also live in Bulgaria, having lived in many other countries on a long term basis. The Bulgarians are corrupt and lazy and all act like prima donnas, with zero know how about just about everything. By far the majority just will NOT take personal responsibility for anything.

I hear more than once daily, when a simple task has been delayed, poorly done, or just plain not done, 'but this is Bulgaria'. And I am part of a First Class Investor group as confirmed by the government, with well over €250m invested here.

There is no excuse, 'but this is Bulgaria', is the most laughable.

The Bulgarians come from Central Asia. On arrival in Europe, they quickly adopted Slav culture and language. Then passed responsibility for running the place to the Ottoman Empire, before making a mess of things in a brief period of independence, involving in the main who would be the next power to hand over responsibility to.

The deal with Nazi Germany fell through, so the country plummed for Uncle Joe's Soviet Union, and became probably the most fanantic Stalinist state of all of the USSR's satelites.

When the USSR fell, Bulgaria was forced to try to come out from behind mummy's skirts at last, after many centuries. During those years, the economy seriously went to rot and curruption and violent crime was in my mind more visible than even in the Yeltsin years in the Russian Federation.

So now we have the EU.

It remains to be seen if the Bulgarians will suckle at the nipples of the European Union as it so previously suckled up to its previous nannies. This may finally be a good thing for the country - never an independent one - but there needs to be a serious pulling up of socks and homework must be done dilligently...

...if this country is every to be allowed out to play in the wider world.

Because it's all part of the grand plan to build a United States of Europe/Federal super state by the unelected and

Because it met the stringent criteria, they made all the reforms, and they will benefit from being par of the EU.

Plus we benefit from having Bulgaria as a member nation.

Hope that helps you

Well obviously there was a way or they wouldn't be. Perhaps you believe that way was underhand or dishonest - but there must have been _A_ reason.
