Is there a tell-tale something that pokes up from the ground?

Normally, but not always, the well is where the pressure tank is. If your tank is inside the house, look at where the piping before the tank is and get an idea of any angle the pipe may be headed in. Follow this angle outside. You may be able to see the well casing pipe sticking up.

A water well will have a pump to bring the water out of the ground.If you have a electric well system.I would think that you will just have to look for the water pump and holding tank.Good luck.

Go to your local environmental health dept they have a print out of where your well and septic are located.You need your address and that's it.
