Yeltsin was arguable the ONLY Russian president in recent years who was at all sympathetic to democracy. Is this slight on Bush's part due to ignorance, or just bad manners?

Putin was and always will be a Communist Party hack. Gorby never stopped being Communist. You could make a case that his actions helped to foster the beginnings of democracy in Russia, though there is almost no democracy to be found there now. Almost everyone in the Russian power elite is corrupt. What else is new?
Why did Bush not at least acknowledge it and say there would be another statement forthcoming?

what about Gorby? Yeltsin was not a staunch supporter of Democracy, He was one of Putin's role models and part of the undemocrasation , in effect now, of Russia.

You are incorrect. Gorbachev was very sympathetic to democracy and was the one to start Russia (part of the former USSR) on the path to democracy. Yeltsin was EXTREMELY corrupt.

Somber is the final factor a president could be in a time of war. A president could attempt to spice up the rustic's morale, no longer ruin it. it extremely is why John Kerry on no account stood of challenge.

I'm sure he will address it when the White House has all the details and they feel the time is approiate. I'm sure either Bush or Chaney will attend the funeral.

He died today. The WH needs to come up with the right words to express their feelings towards the death before they'll say anything about it.
