False: The bills that are successfully passed and presented to the president for signing into law are a compilation of policies and issues of both the majority and minority parties. The system requires a lot of compromise before a bill can even get out of committee. The majority party has greater influence than the minority party but the minority party can stop everything in it's tracks if it has enough support from it's own members. Only after a lot of give and take by both sides can a bill become law.

The only time this is not true is in the unlikely case that the majority party holds more than a two thirds majority. In which case, if they all vote as one (pretty rare) they can force issues through. Of course, if they have that much support from the American people, they deserve to have that much power.

Your second question is not answerable. It totally depends on the issue. For instance, Liberals want the status quo regarding abortion. The Conservatives want the status quo regarding gay marriage.

False, because the laws have been developed over a 200-year history, during which power has changed hands through many different parties, and the parties themselves have changed over time. Therefore, the law is a complex quilt of different policies implemented at different times for different purposes.

As to your multiple-choice status-quo question, I'm not sure I even get it, but I pretty much hate reactionary thinking, so I'll go with "D."

Are you speaking of US government ? I believe that ALL governments reflect the majority - that is, what the majority of the most powerful and wealthy constituents say should be done - and of course, the more money the business leaders pour into government coffers, the more each party in power will defer to their "suggestions" on how the economy should function. None of this is any different from government rule practiced centuries ago.
