Our cat is kind of mean to people (except to us), so we thought we would have a problem with her not liking the baby. But, she surprised us. She just kind of ignores her, which I'd rather her do than be mean to her.

My cat seemed stressed out and wasn't having the baby at first. He would run away from baby when it was crying, but about a week later. My husband was sitting in the recliner with the baby and the cat lays with him before baby was born. The cat jumped up there and walked around for a minute and layed down beside baby. My daughter is 2 months old and the cat likes her now. The baby will hold up her arm and I think the cat thinks yeah she wants to pet me. He'll rub his body against her hand. She likes the cat. she smiles when he's near her. I think the cat is still trying to figure out what she is. But Its cute and I'm glad they get along so we'll. I was worried at first.

Our cats just did their own thing as we had a full house of people (5) plus 2 dogs, sometimes 3.
One thing I will say. Watch a baby around cats. The old schools always warned that a cat "Take their breath away" and could kill a baby.
How I understood this, as I begin to ask around about this "Wives's Tale", was the cat would smell milk on the baby's breath and "MAY" try to lick or lay on the baby suffocating it. I never seen or heard of this, but, did keep a close eye on things. Just a thought.

I was sp worried about this! My cats like to bite me and my husband in a playful way, but it still hurts, but when i first brought the baby home, the cats ignorred me for about two weeks, now my kitten (who is almost a year lol) loves on me, and sometimes, when im feeding my son, he wants to cuddle us, and tries climbing over baby (i dotn think he realizes that now that baby is out of the tummy he cant lay on him lol) i just dont let them in my bedroom, because both are cuddlers, and thats where baby sleeps

I have two cats. One of them thinks everyone is his best friend, therefore, he lets Hannah chase him and pull his hair and hug him. He loves it all. Our other cat steers clear, although he has pulled some stunts. I think it may be his way of being protective. When I was still in the hospital, Hannah was crying and I was on the phone with my husband. He had it on speaker phone and the cat heard and attacked my husband. I guess it thought he was hurting the baby. The same cat attacked me one time in the bathroom after I put Hannah in the tub. She had been protesting the bath with crying and fussing and after I stood up, he got me! I still have a scar.

My cats were very excepting of the situation and were curious enough to want to socialize with my son. Whenever I held him they would gently climb on the couch to investigate. They have been so tolerant, including getting their tails or ears pulled without giving him a scratch. Don't listen to anybody that tells you that you have to give them up because a baby is on the way. Things work out for the best.

My cat got pretty stressed. Her tail and fur got really puffy from the stress and she tried to be in a different room most of the time. She has come around now but really won't go near the baby.

Our cat loves the baby. She will lay beside him, and rub against him. She even likes our 2 yr. old. She lets him grab her, and do just about whatever he wants. I feel sorry for her, but she never stops purring. She must like the attention. Good Luck.

I don't have a cat I have a dog. She was mad because all the time that we spent together with her was now spent with the baby so basically she was jealous but we still played with her.
