and did your relationship come back normal or did your in laws and you break from each other forever? I don't miss to be back to warmth, but also wonder if this is a new chapter not to be close to them for being nasty the fact that i was making my own nest and didn't want them around with their pesimism. I'd like to hear experienced women who did their new home and naturally didn't want a mother in law involved.

I did not have this problem - but most people want to do their OWN homes and not have other people "help" them with decisions. Kind of like buying your own clothes - you don't want someone else buy all your clothes for you. Now that I've said that - which is not what you wanted to know....

I had a friend who bought a house with her fiance. The fiance's mother came over and helped the son buy stuff and decorate the windows with curtains the mother-in-law-to-be liked, etc., while my friend would be at work. (Unfortunately, the father-in-law-to-be felt only women who had something wrong with them worked and would mention this often.)

The marriage did not take place.....
