I need to spend under $500.00 and I want a kick butt laptop.

I will be buying it in the states, but I'm not there right now...

It doesn't need to be Dell or some big name, just reliable and a great value for the money..

Thanks for the suggestions!

I was busy when I wrote that, let me clarify a couple things...

1) I can't spend more than 600 and want to keep it under 500

2) Ideally, 1GB of ram, and a graphics chip that can at least play games which were made a year or two ago

3) This will be purchased inside the states, with us dollars :)

4) Basically I'm just looking for the great amazing deal website that I don't have time to look for. I guess you don't either, but I'm hoping you already know one.

5) Used is not bad, but there has to be a reputation behind it, or else it will be useless

6) Thanks Again!

I live in Sweden and had an Acer 3003LMi series was great now have HP Pavilion zv6000 series both I bought for 4500 Kronors which translates to a little less than 700 dollars. Both were basically new with warranty still attached. So.....oh both had dual side dvd writer so I could write my dvd/cd and create a label for it too they are cool. I am sure most people know about that stuff but I just thought it was cool

Well, if you be doing this on a visit I not think NewEgg would work as they funny about foreign money and probably want a local bank account. The link show the only two they have for under $500.

When you get where you going you may try a Sunday Newspaper and check the Classifieds for a good used one.
Another place you can try is a local Wal-Mart, Best Buy, Circuit City any place that sell Computers. Wal-Mart carry a lot of Toshibas now, but, if you catch them at the right time you may get one on "Clearence" It is new, just a model they move out for the newer coming in.

I know that I get the Dell magazine once a month and there are some great laptops in there for about 200-400 bucks. They seems pretty good, but I am not sure how well they work, I have not gotten one, my friends say that they are pretty good though. Hope that I am helpful.

You will not find one for that price you may want to add like 200-300 more and then maybe you can find one but don't expect kick butt for under like 800-1000 bucks.

You do realize $500 and "Kick Butt" don't even share the same country let alone area code when it comes to laptops?

PS: They're called "Notebooks" now, because people want to be special.

I recently bought a real good one on sale at BestBuy for $499.00 plus tax. I just kept watching their weekly sales ad that comes in our Sunday paper. You can see the flyer on line each week at the web page. www.bestbuy.com If you don't see what you like this week just keep checking back each week they always have different ones on sale.

there are places like Tigerdirect.com, and newegg.com, however have you considered going locally and getting a good used one?
