When they can see everything while they are seated? I went to a football game (US football) and I could see the entire field until.... a play was run then everybody would stand! As soon as the play was over everyone would sit. What is the point of paying for a seat when your going to stand thru most of the game?

Guess you can't "cheer" and "have a good time" from your seat ehh JohnQ?

I'm not old and grumpy but I'm not going to obstruct someone view. If you get excited at a blockbuster movie do you stand up threw the whole thing? How about at an opera? It's rude to block someones view there so sit your A$$ down and enjoy the game! LOL

it is normally when the home team throws a ball down field or breaks out for a big run. some big games the fans stand for the entire game. all the miami vs. fsu games i have been to are this way. i used to get pissed at UT basketball games because the student section stands up for the whole game. we would joke around about goin down and talking to the first guy that stands up after a timeout because it starts a chain reaction. they should have a rule, "no standing until five minutes to go in the game"

From personal experience at Florida field
the first few rows stand because that portion is a bit flat, so it's to see the whole field...then it just cascades from there. Students also jump on the seats or stomp like crazy to raise the crowd noise.
That said, if you don't want to stand, stay home. I stood an entire game, plus pregame, in a heat index of 110 (Peyton's last loss in Gainesville). People were dropping like flies, but we manned up, stood, yelled, cheered like...well...fans! SEC fans especially (UF, UT, UGA and LSU especially) like to stand and cheer and yell. It's called supporting your team.
You want peace and quiet? Stay home. You want people screaming their heads off, jumping up and down celebrating? Then go to the game.

Sometimes your emotions take you over. You get really excited and you just want to jump up and down or you get so angry that you just want to stomp your foot. Sometimes you cant really express your emotions sitting down. Its all in fun, you dont go to sporting events to act like you got a stick up you rear, you go to have fun.

First of all there is only one game called "football"! You dont have to distinguish the two (soccer). Everyone stands at games. you can see more. plus you look like and idiot giving high fives from you ***.

People get excited and want to see the play. If you don't like it, stay at home. Nobody will miss you.

I hate that too. People stand up for a big play then by the time you get up the play is over.....Then you have to go back home and watch it on a highlight reel.
