I used to get ants too. Try putting Cayan (spelling) pepper along the area that the ants are at.

These type of ants are very hard to get rid of. I was in the same situation a couple of months ago.
Here what we had to do (you can do this yourself):
Buy a household bug spray that includes ants. Ortho has a great one. Spray the perimeter of all the rooms. This includes all the doorways leading to the garage and outside. Spray the garage too.
Buy a powder insect killer for outside. Sprinkle it all the way around your house. Read the directions very well. Some need to be wet down after wards.
You will need to spray your house twice a year if you want to keep it up.
This will stop the ants from getting into the house, kill ones outside the house, and kill some of the ants inside the house.
The ant hotel type traps will help kill off the rest that are inside the house.
It takes time, but within a couple of weeks we finally go rid of all the ants.
Good luck and be patient.

This happens to us every time it rains for more than 3 days in a row. The ants come in. It isn't a cleanliness issue, they just appear. Sometimes in the bathrooms and sometimes in the basement.
I use Raid Ant and Cockroach spray to kill the immediate infestation, then I look outside for any trails of ants that might be coming into the house. I spray those and usually spray pretty liberally around where they are going under the siding.
I then use a solution of vinegar and water and wipe up the spots indoors where the ants have been. This destroyes the phermones that ants spread for each other to use as navigation.
A treatment like this holds for months at a time. I've not had to repeat two days in a row. And generally the ants find a completely different trail in.

This works without any harmful residue! Use Orange-Glo furniture polish. It kills them on contact. Just wipe the dead ants up with a paper towel and leave the residue behind. You will never have ants again in the areas you spray. Just to let you know I experimented with numerous dusting sprays and Orange products, but Orange-Glo is the only one that worked. It's somewhat hard to find, but Smart N Final always carries it. Good Luck!

I had the same problem, they were everywhere...even in my cereal! I had to keep all my food in plastic containers or in the frig. I was able eliminate them using Home Defense by Ortho. Spray the entire perimeter of your kitchen as well as any cracks or gaps inside your cabinets. Try and get it everywhere you think an ant could enter. It about 3 applications over a couple of weeks and mine were gone and haven't come back.

Fill a thin cloth with cloves and cinnamon, it will make your cupboards smell nice and it will get rid of the insects. I used to have ants in my cupboards and since I have done this I no longer see any. You must periodically change the spices when the smell is gone, replace with fresh ones. Sometimes cereals get left in the cupboards too long, we get tired of eating them and buy new, any cereal should not be left in the cupboard more than a month.

ants are typically looking for water this time of year-and they also like sugar so remove any moisture and sweets laying around- they will quit coming around

I had those too and they were so small I could hardly see them. I used a bleach and water mix to clean my counter tops and floor and they disappeared.
