Blue spruce are pretty tolerant of most soils. The only thing really bad is very alkaline soil.

They're much more sensitive to heat. They are a cold weather tree and if you're very far below the Mason Dixon line and not in the mountains, they probably won't do real well.

mine is SOOOO clay
and my Arizona Blue spruce (not in Az)
is doing just fine
