Faster than is possible, some science fiction writers suggest that going faster that the speed of light makes one go back in time, which is what you'd have to do to meet yourself, But you can't go faster than the speed of light, in fact any thing with mass can not realistically even go as fast as light.

It has been stated that traveling at the speed of light one conuld not catch themselves unless it was possilbe to go back in time ect...

This would be true if the starting point of the person were stationary. I suggest that since the world is turning that it may be possible to just reach the person as they start running depending on which direction you ran. This assumes that the earth rotation would be moving the starting point and that you could instantly accelerate to the speed of light. So if you ran in the opposite direction of earths rotation at the speed of light would not the combined realitive speed of you running and the earths rotation moving the starting point combine giving you a relative speed slightly faster than the speed of light... If this were so then you might just barely reach yourself as you started to run.

OR Would time dilation effects cancel this out

The reason most slaves were treated with respect and dignity is because they were POW's that were captured and forced to work, it didn't matter their race. They were even allowed to buy their freedom in some places. When the africans sold their slaves to the europeans to be shipped out they were handing over POW's. The europeans got greedy and came back not for the slaves that the africans were selling, but for every african they could snatch up and stuff in a boat. That is why they were not treated with respect because they were not captured as a result of a respectable and dignified battle, but rather through pillaging.

The only way to do this would be to do one of two things:

1) time travel, this would involve getting to the point you left before you left it... travelling faster than light would not do this... you would have to actually do more.

2) Reach down and grab your feet... grats you caught yourself!

You can't catch yourself unless you're about 25,000 miles wide and shaped like a circle.
