Global warming is quite real, despite the propaganda campaign against it by "conservatives" (who, in this case, don't really want to conserve anything but their right to burn fossil fuel). The existence of this disinformation campaign is quite discouraging, since what is needed is the political will to stop burning fossil fuels. This seems particularly absurd, since the world reserves of fossil fuels will only last another few centuries anyway, so sooner or later we will need to live without them and will need to develop alternate, sustainable technologies if our civilization is going to continue.
The good news is that life on Earth will almost certainly survive, even if all the remaining fossil fuels are burned over the next 400 years or so. The additional CO2 loading will, at worst, increase temperatures by 10 or 15 C, perhaps less. This will result in a dramatically different world, with many (perhaps most) of the current living species extinct, but it will not result in the extinction of all life or even the extinction of all large, complex lifeforms. Some humans will survive and adapt.
There is even a chance (maybe 20%) that natural factors will mitigate the effect of man-made CO2, and that we will muddle through the global warming crisis without serious consequences. In that case, the depletion of fossil fuel reserves a few hundred years from now may be the next crisis we face.

The Earth is safe... it is Humans I am worried about.
Humans are effecting the Earth, but life will go on... the question should be, is it too late to stop from hurting ourselves? I think we have already hurt ourselves... People are already loosing their houses to the sea and melting tundra, and climate change has caused droughts and floods in places not seen them for centuries.
Ask a 50 year old farmer and he will tell you what scientists are saying... except a farmer is already suffering the consequences.

The Earth does not need saving. It will do just fine with or without us over the long term, even if we mess things up for a little bit.
Its us that need saving (from ourselves of course). We could not survive as a civilization if world conditions changed a lot.

Do "We" have enough time? No.
Do some have enough time, yes. Thinning the herd, and calling it an accident.
