As a political statement and a response to how liberals are above the law, I am refusing to wear my seat belt. If I get ticketed I'm willing challenge these seat belt laws all the way up to the supreme court. Besides, seat belts haven't consistently been proven to reduce injury or death. when will liberals learn that a nanny state isn't the best thing. As George W. Bush so eloquently put it in the 2000 campaign, "He (Al gore and the liberals) trusts government; I trust the people." God bless the president.

When they first passed the manditory seat belt law in NY State, my mother-in-law declared that she wasn't going to wear hers because it was crazy that the State allowed abortions but said she had to wear one.
I asked, "do you really think you will change the abortion law by dying in a car accident?"
She decided to wear one after all - to be a good influence on her grandchildren.

Saying to a judge that you weren't wearing your seat belt because a politician wasn't, won't cut it and the supreme court will not waste time dealing with this kind of issue.
I personally have been to at least three fatalities where the cause of death was that the driver was killed when the vehicle they were in rolled over them after they were ejected from it.
The vehicle itself was still intact and the FACT is that they would still be alive IF they had been wearing their seat belt. You don't need a scientific study to figure that out.
I have been to dozens of collisions where the occupants of the vehicles would have been seriously injured if they hadn't been wearing their seat belts. To say that seat belts don't save people is just plain silly.
Don't worry I will be there when it comes time to help the coroner pry your head out of the windshield. I will be as compassionate as I can be when I break the news to your family.
Corzine was a hypocrite about the seat belt issue, he has paid the price though, hasn't he?
Someone must have told him that "seat belts haven't consistently been proven to reduce injury or death".

Ok, lets be smart about this. Corzine doesnt wear a seatbelt, and he goes bouncing around the backseat of his SUV. He has 12 fractures to his ribs, a broken leg, numerous other problems, and almost died.
Do you really want that to happen to you? Just because he too ignorant to take 5 seconds and protect his life by buckling up, doesnt mean you have to do the same. Reguardless of what laws there are, be smart and protect yourself. You see what happens when you don't wear a seatbelt, so do the obvious and wear one. It's not fun being a ping pong in the back of a Blazer hitting a guardrail at 90MPH.

I agree with Benny! Has the ignorance of the people that reside in NJ completely lost touch with the virtue of humanity, compassion? Our Governor is in the hospital in critical condition, basically gutted due to his severe injury and all we can say is give him a ticket? If anyone is to receive a ticket it should be the State trooper that was driving the vehicle, the trooper is fully aware of the law and should have enforced the Governor to buckle-up! I think the State should get all the ignorant, inhuman people that believe the Governor should get a ticket to quietly walk through the hospital room where he is resting. Perhaps after the latter see what it is to suffer with extreme pain that will probably last the rest of his life they will have another opinion! Instead of silly talk concerning a ticket we should be praying that the Governor will recover, both Gov Corzine and his family have suffered enough. Have some sympathy on the man and his family! Additionally, get yourself to Mass on Sunday, yes ~ EVERY SUNDAY and pray for his fast recovery. Furthermore, pray for your own good health since it is the Lord that has provided this gift! -Mookie

If you get ticketed, you say?! How about if you go through the windshield?!?! How about if you break 11 ribs and end up on a ventilator?
I'm a liberal and I buckle up (it saved my life once, by the way). Most people do. His politics didn't make him feel above the law - he was just a bonehead.
But given your wont to politicize, and given the illogic of your plan, by all means, don't wear your belt.

Let me get this right.
Corzine seems to have believed he was above the written law, and is right now laying in a hospital bed with multiple fractures, and only recently is again able to breathe unassisted, because he discovered that he cannot violate the law of physics.
And YOU want to protest his violating laws designed to prevent you from landing in a hospital with multiple fractures and breathing on a ventilator by risking landing in a hospital with multiple fractures, breathing on a ventilator.
Could I suggest you simply not vote for him in the next election? I think it's a safer form of protest.

There are lots of laws that are enforced against us but not against the big wigs or the illegal immigrants. Maybe we should have a full-scale rebellion, making a huge list of all the laws that we have to obey but others don't and then send them into the Supreme Court to effect a challenge. Illegal immigrants don't obey any laws -- 12-20 million of them. They drive without licenses, lie about their status, commit crimes of conspiracy by working with the employers to hire them illegally, by banding together they commit organized crime, violate the banking laws and the tax laws, illegally collect benefits, and many, many more.

Out here in Montana they find that a huge percentage of deaths are caused by not wearing seat belts. Big ditches by roads or even rivers.

You have to remember that Corzine is a democrat so aside from the typical democrat "do as I say, not as I do" attitude, now they're trying to blame the State Trooper who was driving.
First it was "That Trooper should have forced the Governor to buckle up." Yeah Right, and tomorrow that trooper would be patrolling a trash dump somewhere because no one tells a democrat what to do.
Now it's "The Trooper was on a cell phone with his girlfriend and that's what caused the accident." which is more crap.
The one responsible for Corzine's injuries is Corzine himself. Like a typical democrat, he believes that laws are for other people to obey, not him. Now all his butt buddies are rallying around trying to shift the blame, like they always do.
