this must rate among the tackiest invention yet thought up for houses, all these nasty plastic (obviously plastic too) doors and window frames, what were they thinking of?? aren't hardwood doors and window frames so much more tasteful?

and they're not maintenance free really are they? I mean if not kept very clean they go all mouldy and even nastier, yet so many people seem happy to live like that

It's probably a case of "get it and forget it". The cost of painting window frames, etc. is very high, particularly for larger houses, then you have the hassle of being at home to allow the painter(s) access. As far as the point about PVC windows looking bad if they're not cleaned is concerned, if people neglect their (painted) wooden window frames so much that they have to be replaced with PVC, then they'll probably neglect their PVC frames as well.

Your cat became into very previous while it died and probably had an rather particular connection with not basically you yet each and every thing in that living house. if this is the ghost of your cat (which from what i've got examine right here, i've got self assurance it o.k. would desire to be) i don't think of she's there to do something undesirable. probably just to permit you understand that she's nevertheless there, i'm confident you 2 have been very close.

A. Lack of taste and as for looking good when older - how come you can now buy cleaning and paint products to get your plassie stuff looking good again?
To be honest if I were to live by the sea then UPVC would have to be a consideratioon due to the better resistance ot salt air.

Yes but they cost more and need painting regularly which not everyone can afford to do. Whilst ugly, plastic windows and doors are no maintenance. The older you get the more practical you become.

They dont need to be painted - this is a tedious job and nothing looks worse than windows and doors with flaking paint/varnish. I opted for PVC windows and wooden doors. Some PVC doors look quite good but I agree some really are a bit garish.

They probably aren't too worried about how they look and want to save energy. Perhaps you too could have a think about wasting the planet's resources and fit double glazing.

Real wood looks and is beautiful. However, nothing looks worse than rotten and badly kept wooden windows. I guess you don't get that with plastic?

because some people cant afford the 'luxury' hardwood doors so have to make do with the budget they have
Plus they are much more practical and cheaper to replace if ever the need arises
clearly you have far to much time on your hands to look down your nose at other peoples homes

What a snob you are.
They cost less and require no maintenance, I would hardly call wiping over with a wet cloth maintenance.
