Well, as you discovered yesterday, we had our traditional Penhurstian St George's Day barbie. I was a little disappointed to see a lack of flags flying but as soon as we encourage those who wave their flags everywhere when the main football tournaments are on to fly their flags on April 23rd we're onto a winner now we've got our Union Flag and St George's Cross back from the BNP, the bigots, the Conservatives and the football hooligans. My large flag was flying out of the window yesterday and my bunting in the window stays up all year round with my little flags in the window. Here's to everyone who knows what it's like to be English and here's to all the great Anglophiles like Mike Myers (Austin Powers, not Halloween) and the South Park team.

Mmm...I'm both English and Spanish, and I would have to say, I'm proud of both. England has great people, nice sense of humour, great parties. Spain has great weather, fantastic food, nice beaches. What can I say? It's not easy to make a choice...I wouldn't mind livin in any of them

From 'GOD BLESS ENGLAND'

"...THINK about the day that's coming fast.
When we shall all be civilised,
Neat and clean and well-advised.
Now, won't Mother England be surprised?"

It seems a pity that you feel so compelled to just identifying yourself with England, considering the fact that you feel so passionate about your identity.

The Saxons, who were many of the invaders of this land originated form northern Germany or southern Denmark.

The continental invaders were generally called 'Saxons' by their neighbours. England is still called 'Sasana' in Gaelic, and its inhabitants are 'Sassenachs'.

The term 'Anglo-Saxon' did not become common until the eighth century, when people on the continent started using it to distinguish between the inhabitants of Britain and the Saxons who remained in northern Germany.

The Anglo-Saxons themselves had by then begun to use the word 'Angli' or 'English' to refer to themselves.

It therefore seems a pity that patriotism tends to ignore its heritage.
