Good for the water when used in the filter in my aquarium.
Just one gram of activated carbon has the surface area of approximately 500 m2, typically determined by nitrogen gas adsorption, and includes a large amount of microporosity.
Activated carbon is used in gas purification, metal extraction, water purification, medicine, sewage treatment, air filters in gas masks and filter masks, filters in compressed air and many other applications.

Also called activated charcoal.
It binds quickly and easily to volatiles in the air or water with which it comes into contact.
Also good for pulling toxic overdoses of medication from people, when given orally. That is, as long as they hurl it back up.
By the way, sentences have subjects and verbs, as well as objects. Constructing questions that have all three makes them intelligible.
