Word is out that most chicks can feel the rythym and pulse of a good bass player. But then bass players are usually the dumbest and ugliest guys in the band and may not be the coolest. What's your opinoin?

Bass players ugly? tell that to all the screaming girls who love(d) Paul McCartney.
Anyway, if we're talking *coolest*, then I'd say bassists too. Most would confuse 'cool' w/ the singer, but often, they're the *face* of the band...but not necessarily cool.

If a group functions properly, they enhance each other's "coolness" equally. However, I would have to say that the lead guitarist (especially if that person is also the lead singer) is considered to be the "coolest" in the group. The amount of skill required to be able to play solos and other difficult pieces is most definitely noticed by others. Take Slash, for instance, from Guns n' Roses. Everyone knows his name, yet who can easily name the lead singer? Although Axl Rose (Bill Bailey) provides the unique voice for the group's signature sound, he is not the one you watch when Slash begins to play.

The singer rocks. If he's playing a guitar, he's especially awesome.
Josh, you just cleared up for me a thought about Jo Seung Hui's arm imprint Ismail Ax. Do you think the Ax stood for Axl Rose? Because the guy was a Guns N' Roses fan.

Well singer is the obvious choice but I do like bass. That's what's so good about aussie band Eskimo Joe, the lead singer is the bassist - and he's hot!

Each and every band has a different pin point person. The lead singer or frontman, normally is the cohesive element to make the band something to remember.

I have a thing for the guitar. I think they are definately the coolest, but sometimes not the cutest. Second would be lead singer.

I play the guitar and I think its cool but coolness depends on how well you play.
