As well as Start > Run > type msconfig and then uncheck programs set to run on start up, the amount of icons you have on your Desktop Screen can cause slow start-ups - transfer these to another folder such as My Documents (I have one named "Old Desktop" as I had so many it was causing the same problem - once you have made the new folder and transferred the files from desktop to it, right click the new folder's icon in My Documents, choose Send To > Desktop and then you still have the items with easy access without it making a slow start.

Hi,
I had same problem last year . Seemed to take forever and was very frustrating!
The way i fixed it was to buy and install a new Power Supply. Now i have no problems and computer is starting up same way as it did originally.
Hope this helps your problem :)

Go to link below and download the Full Service Scan it's free and will take several hours so run it before you go to bed or go to work or school. It knocked several minuets off my start up. Good luck.
