It's miserable!!

DO NOT ride it out, call your dr. ASAP...they can bring you back in the hospital and the anesthesiologist that gave you the epidural or the spinal (whichever procedure you had) can give your whats called a "blood patch" where they go back into your back, and replace the fluids and your headache will go away almost immediately...

Do not suffer...really....it's not necessary.

Im assuming you had an epidural? I had 5 kids and 4 epidurals. I never had migranes until I had my first epidural in 01...now I am on migrane meds until I die. Anyways. they should have done a spinal tap. (I think thats what its called) They take blood out of your arm and put it into your back. I had it after my 3rd pregnancy, and I was in the hospital for 6 days. I couldnt even get up to go to the bathroom. I was crying the whole time and i couldnt even hold my baby it was so bad. How long has it been? You really should go back to the hospital and tell them your problem and tell them to give you a spinal tap. I am a BIG baby when it comes to pain, and it hurt a little, but the relief I felt not even an hour later. I could accually sit up and by the time I got home, it was pretty much gone. It only felt like a small headach normal ppl get. Look into honey, b/c I know what it feels like.
P.S. DONT let them tell you to ride it out. it wont go away. As I said I had my baby on mon night and I could have gone home Tues night Wed am but I was there until Fri and left at 8 pm at night. I refused to leave til they fixed me.

My sister had a serious spinal headache after the birth of her baby (getting her epidural was pure hell and the spinal headache was caused by a small puncture leaking the spinal fluid)... she ended up getting an epidural blood patch (they inject blood in the hopes that a clot will fill the hole that's leaking the spinal fluid... that's a very elementary description :). If you're in a lot of pain, and rest and drinking extra fluids aren't helping, then talk to your doctor about what else can be done to help with the pain. Your first few days with that prescious baby shouldn't be clouded with all that pain.

I had one after the birth of my son 5 years ago. They took blood from my arm and injected in my spine hoping to plug it. Didn't work. The only thing they told me to do when I left the hospital was to lay completely flat.
