I think that "thank you" has just become, a common phrase for ever one to say now days. Most of us were raised to always say "please" and "thank you", i still have a ruler mark on one of my knuckles that a nun from catholic school gave me, the one time i had forgotten to say "thank you". It's pretty much, been embedded in to our vocabulary, as a acceptable reply and gesture. And then you have the T.V. show "The Closer" to add to the influence of saying "thank you" all the time.
Some people can not admit when they are wrong, even when we can prove it,(look at Chaney on the wolf blitzer show). But at least there are those who can admit it, and honestly mean it when they say "sorry". I admit when I f*** up, and always take full responsibility for my actions
didn't mean to have that long of an answer, to good a question to pass up

I don't know why that is, but I have noticed it. I was brought up to use my manners and I tend to say sorry too much. (People have told me this) Actually I find that some people are quite stingy with their 'thankyou's aswell...

Anyone else afraid of saying 'Sorry' and having 'Well, sorry's not good enough' thrown back in our faces? I think that is why. People are too afraid to say sorry in case it isn't met with the right response.

I think its just because, saying thank you is just something you do out of politeness and saying sorry is like admiting you´re wrong and not many people are wiling to admit that they´re wrong sometimes. I personally though, always mean it with all my heart when i say thank you and i also mean it with all my heart when i say sorry.

Actually, some of us apologize way too much, even when we are Not to blame... While there are those who won't apologize at all, or rarely!

Because one is positive, and we see the other as making us vulnerable.
