I want to buy a 1GB RAM stick.My current 512 has 400MHz (I think) and is 184pin...The stcik I am looking @ http://www.ebuyer.com/product/115961/product_info/rb/27141652312 has 667MHz and is 240pin, does this matter?
do I need to buy the same MHz and pins as i have now?

You can NOT use the 240 pin ddr2.

If your motherboard is capable of running memory in dual channel mode, better just buy 1 stick of 512Mb ddr400 (preferably same brand and/or timings as your current one). 2x512Mb in dual channel mode is faster than 1x1Gb in single channel mode.

NOT COMPATIBLE

they are 2 different kinds of memory
the 184 pin that you have is call a DDR and is the older model
while the 240 pin that you are looking at is a DDR2 is the newer model
the 240 will not fit in your motherboard memory slot

but as for the MHz it isn't as big of deal, your computer will just act weird
