You don't specify what kind of pain she is experiencing. Foreplay will relax her and get her natural lubrication going. If she is still having pain, try some water-based lube. If the pain feels like it is inside her like you are hitting something when you thrust, find positions that don't allow for so much penetration, you are hitting her cervix. If she continues having the pain even after you try the suggestions here, she needs to see her doctor to make sure nothing is physically wrong with her.

I would recommend talking to your dr about this as well because an option they can give you to try is something called Lidocaine jelly. It is an anesthetic jelly that is sometimes prescribed to women who have a condition called vulvodynia. One of the symptoms of this condition is pain with intercourse. A number of the women who have used this product have had good success.
