What *is* your art and craft?
If it's leather tooling or carving, you'll need new, vegetable-tanned leather. Tandy Leather Company and The Leather Factory are the two names the first come to mind.
If it's wee artsy-craftsy things other than that, thrift stores can be an economical source of re-purposeable materials.
It it's garments, check yellow pages and the web for "garment leather".

Hobby Lobby or JoAnn Fabrics. If you need smaller pieces, check your local Goodwill and Salvation Army to see if you can find small leather goods to chop up for super cheap.
