A friend left my laptop open and on the couch and I think a guitar case banged into it. I turned it on and the computer worked but the screen was dark, the outside part was not cracked but on the inside you could see where it was hit. I went and bought another laptop but now I realized my computer was about a year old, it might be worth fixing. I got a new one but i dont like it as much and two laptops are better than one!!

My questions are...(1) Is it possible for a average person that works well with computers to do themselves with the right supplies?(2) Can it be fixed? (3)Where can I go to fix it without sending it somewhere? (4) About how much would it run for glossy Sony Vaio laptop screen? ...
Thanks!

If you goto the sony support website and put in your model number and serial number you can get the part number of the screen you need.

Then goto ebay or search the web and purchase one.

I have done this 3 times on gateways but never a Sony. Its not that hard as long as you are carefull opening the case.

But unfortunatly it wont be cheap. Could be up to 300 or 400 dollars....

If you have trouble getting the part number, The easiest thing I can think of is goto your local repair store and ask to get a repair estimate. The estimate paper will usually have the part number and price on it.

1. It really depends ... I can't really tell what the problem is with the info you gave me, but I'm guessing no because screens aren't something an average person can fix.
2. You can get it fixed if you bring it into a repair shop, but I would not advise this because screens are extremely expensive to fix.
3. Try someplace like Best Buy
4. $400 +
