OK first of all a vet is out of the question I live 300mi out in the boonies it ain't gonna happen. My puppy is sick. I found him to day in town and he was very skinny. About 2 hours ago he became very lethargic and tense skinned. He is still drinking on hs own but has some serious diarrhea and is either foaming or throwing up white foamy stuff. He doesn't have that dying breath thing going on for those who know what I mean by that. A few minutes ago I walked into the bathroom where I have him 'quarintined' and he was standing up by him self and wagging his tail. Still lethargic and tense. I need to do someting about this now and There has to be something I can do for him here. Please help When I found the dog earlier today I did give him some puppy dewormer. He is also feeling well enough to pull away from me when I try to feed him now. I called my grandma and she recommended rice baby food mixed with water, which is what I've given him.

right now I need something to stop the diarrhea and the throwing up. He just drank on his own but threw it all back up, except his throw up was like......jellyish, not just straight water, and no blood.

It is parvo and you will not be able to cure it at home here is a link with info

I am sorry but my puppy passed from this a few years ago I know the symptoms and was sure when you mentioned the smell Also we took the puppy to the vet and he was up to date on all shots I don't think parvo vaccine was available then so he died at the vets office And for the people who are posting rude comments to the asker she has had this puppy for one day he probably has parvo and she doesn't know if this dog has had any shots Most healthy dogs do not survive this and who knows what other medical problems puppy has that he was thrown out on the street for If you want to direct comments they should be for the one who put the little guy on the street rather than take him to the animal shelter and dropped him off

What, if any, diagnostics were done? I don't think that going to a new vet is the answer. I would go back to the original vet because they are most familiar with the case. It is unfair to assume that this vomiting episode is a continuation of the last one and that it is the vet's fault. Particularly if the vomiting had stopped for 10 days. If you brought this case to me, I would repeat a fecal, do some bloodwork, and take radiographs to check for obstructions. The fuzz in the vomit makes me think that a foreign body could be the fault. Hypoglycemia, which is common in these little guys, can also cause vomiting.

The puppy may have some kind of poisoning. If it is food poiosning, it may go away in a day or so. If however it has swallowed rat poison or something, he needs the antidote fast and only the vet can help you. You can either hope that he'll get well by himself (which has a high risk factor that he'll die insetad) or take him to the vet, there is not much else you can do really, I'm sorry but these are your options.

I am sorry that your dog has parvo.

It isn't fair that people are being so mean to you. You are trying to save the puppies life!!!!!

Keep him hydrated. Leave a bowl of food near him at all thimes (incase he decides to eat). Watch him well. Make sure he has alot of protien.

When it all comes down to it, you are trying to save a life. If you didn't pick that puppy up from the street, then it would have died anyway. I would have picked it up straight away. Although, it wouldn't be a problem for me since i live near 2 vets.

All the best with the little puppy!

p.s. Try to have some cake/ icream to make yourself feel better. also be calm, as the pup will sence that something is wrong. Maybe the dog might like some cake/icecream! =)

Oh you poor thing, what a worry! Sure the other posters could be right and it might be Parvo, the sympthons fit, but they also fit different types of poisoning.

Your doing all you can and in your circumstances thats all you can do, its distressing to see an animal so sick. Avoid the cake and icecream mentioned in a previous answer for the puppy though...nothing with cows milk in it at all it could make the puppy worse.

I hope he comes good over night, but it's going to be rough on you both. If you can I'd be adding diluted, powdered electrolyte/rehydration solution to the water your giving him. Good luck.

your dog has parvo, it is a serious desease and can live in the ground for a long time so even if your puppy dies and you get another one the new puppy will get it too. bleach is the only thing that can kill it. you have three choices here

1. keep your puppy hydrated and hope it lives
2. take your puppy to a vet get the treatment which is very exspensive and hope your puppy lives
3. take your puppy to the vet and have it humanly put down

sorry for the bad news sweetie but it is realy important to get your puppy vacanated from this desease and unfortunatly not even that is a 100% garentee

Is he better? What happened to him. It's normal for puppies to throw up. They have small digestive tracts and up u ntil this point we don't know what he ate before you picked him up, or what someone gave to him.First, stop giving him too many meds. If he is not eating enough, that's not good for him.

Buy puppy food. Make sure that it is soft, if u have to mush it up, do so. FORCE FEED HIM. BY THAT I MEAN NO MEAN NESS, simply take some food on ur fingertip and put some dabs (nickel size), inside of his mouth. make sure that the food is soft enough. HOLD HIM, SHOW HIM LOVE AND AFFECTION, he knows what happened to him and puppies are easiyl traumatized.

Please let me know how he is. THANKS AND I WILL PRAY for him!

Exceptionally strong odors from the diarrhea indicates Parvo, which, without veterinary care, will be fatal. Could be something else, but no one on here can properly diagnose this animal.

Sounds like parvo to me, you have to take him to a vet if want even the slightest chance for his survival, otherwise he will probably die in a few days, if not before.

If you gave him dewormer then yes he will get diarrhea especially if he is sick. If it truly is Parvo only prayers and your diligence can save him now. Thank you for trying.
