Visual basic .net (or vb.net) is a programming language, while VB 2005 Express edition is a free development tool which is used to develop programs in vb.net (Standard IDE is a Visual Studio 2005, but you have to pay for it). No. Express is like a "functional demo" of the full VB. It can be used for some limited stuff, but to get the full effect, you need the full product.

Come on, think about it... Why would Microsoft give away the product? To get you to buy the full version!
