My best friend always tells me he's going to do things with me & always ends up standing me up at the last minute. The last straw came last Saturday when he was supposed to go to a wedding with me. I called him the night before & reminded him about it. The day of the wedding, I called him & he said he had forgotten & had made plans with his family (stay home, family dinner). I just found out he went out that night with someone else. How can I make him understand this is not right? We've been friends for 10 years and lately this has happened often. He ditching me for someone else (usually a romance).

If he is that unreliable, why do you rely on him? He may feel obliged to say yes when he really wants to say no. He isn't that interested in your feelings or he wouldn't stand you up so much. Not much of a friend if you ask me. Just don't ask him next time.

I have the same exact problem, the next time he asks you to do something or if he asks you to meet him somewhere say yes but really don't do it so he knws how you feel and the next day tell him what really happened
